1991 bin ich auch per Rotel-Tours 4 Wochen durch Südamerika gefahren und habe dann noch 1 Woche lange Verwandte in Venezuela besucht. Für eine Reise nach Südamerika, insbesondere durch viele südamerikanische Länder, ist Rotel-Tours nicht schlecht, da man wirklich durch’s Land fährt und nicht von Stadt zu Stadt fliegt. Wenn man eine derartige Reise auf eigene Faust machen will, so muß man mindestens sehr gut spanisch sprechen und und die Latino-Seele verstehen.

Die Reise-Route hat von Rio de Janeiro und Sao Paulo in Brasilien über Ascuncion in Paraguay nach Argentien geführt. Die Route durch den Gran Chaco hat dann nach Salta geführt, wo mein Bruder geboren ist. Von da gings nordwärts in die Hochanden nach Bolivien. Hier stand Potosi, Sucre und La Paz auf dem Programm. Natürlich wurde auch Tiahuanaco und der Titacacasee nicht ausgelassen. Zum Baden ist dieser See übrigens viel zu kalt. Er liegt eben auch auf rund 4000m Höhe. Von Tiahuanaco gings dann nach Puno in Peru und von da per Bahn nach Cusco. Dass diese Reise auf eigene Faust nicht ungefährlich war. zeigten die beiden Einschußlöcher im Fenster meines Zugabteils. Auch die schwer bewaffneten Soldaten vorne und hinten im Wagon sind sicherlich nicht nur als Touristenattraktion mitgefahren. Von Cusco aus stand dann ein Auflug nach Machu Picchu auf dem Programm und zu einigen anderen Inka-Heiligtümern. Der Flug ging dann über Lima und Bogota nach Caracas wo ich noch ein paar Verwandte besucht hab.

Mit meinem Cousin in Caracas hab ich dann ausgemacht, dass wir, wenn ich 50 werde, mit dem Motorrad von Caracas über Manaos nach La Paz fahren wollen. Derzeit ist er aber nicht mehr in Südamerika und seine BMW gibt’s auch nicht mehr. Man wird also sehen, ob das noch was wird.
